YCSO Rescues An 18-Year-Old Girl, Credits Her Friends For Helping Save Her Life

Young girls are being applauded for saving a life of one of their friends. On Saturday night, Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies were contacted by a few girls concerned for their 18-year-old friend who stated she was going to toss her phone and take her own life. Deputies were just finishing up a call about an underaged party at Thumb Butte Lookout when the girls contacted them. The friend was at the same party before she made the threat, and her Snapchat account showed her location out in the woods in a rugged and remote area. With help from the girls, deputies began to search the area near the Snapchat location market. They found the girl in distress near a ledge on the ridgeline. She was intoxicated and had minor injuries. She told the searchers she wanted to throw herself off the ledge. Deputies were able to talk her into coming with them and they took her to a location where medical personnel could take her to the hospital. Her friends are being commended for reporting their concerns to deputies, which Sheriff’s official say most likely saved her life.
