YCSO Announces Another Solved Cold Case

The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office has settled another cold case. In August of 2011 a body was found in the Beaver Creek area with no identification, which hampered the investigation. Many years passed while hoping for a match through NamUs or the Cogent Automated Fingerprint Indentification System. In early 2023, YCSO was approached by Ramapo College in New Jersey for cases suitable Forensic Genetic Genealogy. This case is one of several the college selected. Through enhanced DNA study, the remains were identified as David Emil Jacobson. He had died of natural causes due to heart complications. After 13 years the Jacobson family was able to find closure, thanks to the efforts of Ramapo College and increased study into DNA testing and genetic research.
