Yavapai County Jury Found A Spring Valley Man Guilty Of Attempted Second Degree Murder Last Week

A Yavapai County jury found 34-year-old James Robert Patton, of Spring Valley, guilty of attempted second degree murder, burglary and two counts of aggravated assault in a throat slashing attack in August of 2021. Patton was charged in connection with the stabbing of 45-year-old Kenneth Wallace, multiple times, with a serious laceration to his neck. Wallace was airlifted to a Phoenix area hospital. The victim survived the attack. Wallace’s family told investigators he was in a disagreement about money with a family acquaintance. Patton was found in an area known as “The Outback” near the Agua Fria River in Cordes Lakes. He surrendered to a deputy who was sitting in a police vehicle near the area. Patton told the deputy he knew the helicopter was going to find him anyway. He is facing a minimum of seven years in prison. Patton’s sentencing hearing is February 6th in Yavapai County Superior Court.
