Yavapai County Jury Convicts Five-Time Felon In Possession Of An Illegal Handgun In Prescott

A Jerome man was found guilty on a weapons charge last Thursday after a traffic stop in Prescott back in December. Prescott Police arrested 28-year-old Kyle Austin Johnson after the vehicle he was a passenger in, was pulled over. An officer learned Johnson had outstanding warrants and a loaded 9-milimeter handgun in his waistband. It was also determined that Johnson had five prior felony convictions and had served prison time in two states. He was charged with misconduct involving weapons as a prohibited possessor. Johnson will be sentenced June 24th and faces between just over two-to-12 years in prison.
