Woman Arrested In Connection With The Death Of An Elderly Man In Cordes Lakes Friday

A woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of an elderly man Friday night in Cordes Lakes. Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a request of a welfare check of a man living off Rodeo Drive in Cordes Lakes Friday night at around 10 p.m. An acquaintance of the man called YCSO after not hearing from 93-year-old Carl Miller in a couple of days. Deputies were told by his roommate, 59-year-old Bridget Nelson, that Miller had driven out of town and didn’t know where he was. Deputies contacted the person who initially called, who told them Miller’s truck was still in the driveway and was apparently inoperable. Deputies returned to the home to question Nelson, but after receiving no response, they noticed through a window a man lying on the ground motionless. They ordered Nelson to come out of the house, which she did after several requests. Detectives entered the home and found Miller, who had been dead for at least a day. Initial evidence shows Miller suffered a violent death with his wounds indicating foul play. Nelson was arrested and booked into the Yavapai County Jail on a count of first degree murder.
