Wednesday’s Snowstorm Dropped Some Snow In Northern Arizona, Causing Numerous Slideoffs And A Road Closure

The first real snow storm of the season has come and gone and has left some snow behind. The National Weather Service says initial readings have just over five inches of snow that fell at the Flagstaff Airport, with just over three inches on the ground in downtown Flagstaff and in Bellemont and nearly four inches of snow fell in Munds Park. Snowfall last night closed Interstate-40 in both directions for a short time. Accidents and slide offs closed westbound I-40 near Williams, and traffic was stopped at Ash Fork eastbound. I-40 has since reopened. Forecasters say expect to be in a cold weather pattern for a while, with another storm coming in late Saturday and Sunday. It remains to be seen how the next storm will affect weekend plans.
