Vice President Kamala Harris Encouraged NAU Students To Register To Vote Tuesday

Vice President Kamala Harris spoke to an auditorium full of Northern Arizona University college students Tuesday as part of her month-long college tour. NAU was the ninth stop on her 12-campus tour in what’s being called the “Fight For Our Freedoms College Tour.” However, the event nearly didn’t happen. As the vice president prepared to come off Air Force Two and leave the Flagstaff Airport, a power outage cut power to most of west Flagstaff, including NAU. APS officials say a power line fell near Pine Canyon Golf Course and Interstate-40, knocking out power to hundreds of customers. Crews were able to reroute the line to restore power to the area. White House officials say if the outage were to last a while, they were ready refuel Air Force Two and head back to Washington, DC. Power was restored in about 30 minutes and the event went on as planned. Harris told the Ardrey Auditorium crowd how important it was to vote with so much in store. She was joined by actor Jay Ellis, who was in the movie “Top Gun: Maverick” and who also spoke at the event. After about an hour, Vice President Harris returned to the airport and departed back to Washington.
