The Verde Valley SWAT unit was called in to help the Cottonwood Police Department on a felony suspect Thursday afternoon. Cottonwood Police were alerted that a suspect with an active felony warrant out of Yavapai County was inside a residence in the Pine Shadows Community of Cottonwood Thursday. Officers responded to the home and attempted contact with the person. Negotiators were able to establish communication with the suspect, who refused to surrender. Verde Valley SWAT responded to the scene. Negotiators and SWAT members deployed tactics that eventually led to the suspect walking out of the residence and being taken into custody. The suspect was booked into the Yavapai County Jail on charges related to the felony warrant.
