U.S. Marshals have arrested a Flagstaff man in connection with a sexual assault back in April at the Cinder Hills OHV area north of Flagstaff. Officials say at around 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 29th, deputies responded to the area for a report of a sexual assault. The suspect, described only as a man in shorts at the time, fled the area, so a DPS helicopter was called in to help in the search. The suspect was never found in the area. Over the past several months, CCSO detectives have been working on leads and continuing the investigation. The suspect was identified as Jesus Elias Cruz-Lopez from Flagstaff. Recently, U.S. Marshals began investigating the whereabouts of Cruz-Lopez after learning he may be in the Phoenix area. On Thursday, he was arrested by U.S. Marshals in an east Phoenix community and is awaiting extradition back to Coconino County to face charges in connection with the April assault.
