Three mobile homes were destroyed Saturday after a nearby resident was burning weeds with a torch in the Verde Valley. Verde Valley Fire crews were called to the area at around 11:45 a.m. with reports the fire was moving toward houses. Before crews arrived, the fire had spread to the homes. Due to multiple incidents occurring in the Verde Valley at one time, aid was provided by Cottonwood Fire, Copper Canyon Fire, Sedona Fire and Verde Valley Ambulance Company. When units arrived they saw fire burning on two different properties. Multiple water tenders were used on the brush fire due to no fire hydrants in the neighborhood. One resident was taken to Verde Valley Medical Center for a medical issue not related to the fire. There were no other injuries reported.
