A lightning-caused fire is burning to the south of Garland Prairie, inside the Rafael Fire burn scar. Coconino National Forest officials say the Wildland Fire has burned an acre and was reported on Tuesday. It’s burning near Volunteer Canyon about 16 miles west of Flagstaff and no structures are being threatened. Fire officials say the fire has been confined and they are assessing it to see if it is ideal for managing it to consume debris across the forest floor in a safe manner.
