The Coconino National Forest Is Reopening Many Forest Service Roads After A Very Snowy Winter

The Coconino National Forest is reopening many forest roads this weekend as roads begin to dry out from the winter. All campgrounds on the Flagstaff Ranger District have reopened, except Lockett Meadow and Dairy and Double Springs. Also Ashurst Lake Road, Marshall Lake Road and Kinnickinick Lake Road have all reopened after a long closure. The Lake Mary Narrows Boat Launch and Picnic Area and the Upper Lake Mary Boat Launch and Picnic Area are reopened and free until Friday of Memorial Day Weekend. There are some roads that will remain closed due to wet and muddy conditions. If you come across one of these roads, honor the closure and don’t go around barriers. Roads on the Red Rock and Mogollon Rim ranger districts are reopening as well. Head to the forest service website for more information. For camping and day-use fee information and reservations head to recreation.gov.
