The 2023 Monsoon Season Fell Short Of Normal Rainfall For Many Across Northern Arizona

Rainfall totals in the 2023 Monsoon Season were below normal for most of Northern Arizona. The National Weather Service says only six of 25 reporting stations were above normal this season. The Bright Angel Ranger Station had the most rain from normal at 1.70 inches of rain above normal. The Flagstaff Airport normally gets 7.68 inches of rain every season. This year, Pullman Airport picked up 4.24 inches of rain, which is 3.44 inches below normal making it the 13th driest Monsoon on record for Flagstaff. The Prescott Airport had the 11th driest Monsoon on record with 2.63 inches of rain below normal. Payson had the driest Monsoon season in Northern Arizona. They had the third-driest Monsoon on record with 3.15 inches of rain. Payson normally averages 7.09 inches of rain a Monsoon season.
