Sunday’s Winter Storm Caused Numerous Issues On The Highways And Delayed The Start Of Monday Classes In Flagstaff

Sunday’s winter storm made it difficult on the highways of Northern Arizona. Interstate-40 was closed westbound from Holbrook to Williams and eastbound at Ash Fork for many hours as crews cleared the roads, and multiple accidents. ADOT also closed State Route 89A for the most of Sunday as well. Once crews were able to clear the highways, they slowly reopened. The storm also caused school officials in Flagstaff to call for a two-hour delayed start to classes Monday. The Flagstaff Unified School District was the first to call for delays Sunday afternoon and many followed suit. As of Monday morning Interstate-40 was clear with no closures or delays. Roads in and around Flagstaff were snowpacked and icy in some areas.
