Structural Collapse Forces The Evacuation Of A Senior Living Facility In Prescott Valley Friday

Drywall collapse led the evacuation of 74 people from a senior living facility in Prescott Valley Friday. Central Arizona Fire and Medical officials responded to Ativo Senior Living of Prescott Valley on North Viewpoint Drive at around 12:30 p.m. on the first report of the collapse. Upon arriving crews discovered that a frozen sprinkler line had led to a water leak. It resulted in the collapse of the drywall on the third floor and significant damage to all three floors. Firefighters evacuated 74 people from the facility and were sheltered in place. Crews shut down the leak and worked to mitigate water damage to the property. Officials say 42 residents have been displaced, with some finding on-site shelter and others relocating to accommodations off-site. Firefighters and others, found their personal belongings and medications.
