Arizona teachers will receive a share of $1.25-million through Palo Verde Fiesta Bowl Charities Wishes for Teachers Draft Day. Six Flagstaff teachers will get $25-hundred grants. The winning teachers are: Leah Claypool, a librarian at DeMiguel Elementary School, will buy desktop computers for the library. Vanessa Darius is a dual language teacher at Puente de Hozho Elementary School and her money will provide flexible seating options and Spanish books for their classroom. Marie Olson is an eighth grade teacher at Mount Elden Middle School and her money will go to provide collaborative tables and flexible seating options for their students. Catherine Robinson is a seventh and eighth grade culinary arts teacher at Sinagua Middle School and her grant will go to buy new equipment and replace broken utensils for their culinary class. Rhonda Shearer is a special education teacher at Northland Prep Academy and the grant will go toward purchasing a Wilson Reading program for their class. Sheryl Wells is a STEM teacher at Killip Elementary School and she will buy STEM materials for the classroom. Other teachers from around Northern Arizona, including Cottonwood, Camp Verde, Chino Valley, Prescott, Prescott Valley, Rimrock and Winslow, also were awarded grants.
