Sechrist Elementary School was under a shelter-in-place order for a brief time Wednesday after a report of a man with a rifle was called into office. Flagstaff Police say the report was from a parent driving that they saw the person with a weapon on a pedestrian walkway near the school. No one was actually located and no crime was reported. The school decided to go into a “soft” lockdown, which was lifted a short time later. A shelter-in-place is put into play when students and staff need to be inside the building for safety and protection from any outside dangers, or unsafe conditions near the school. Classes continued on as normal inside the school.
