Repairs On The Inner Basin Waterline Ahead Of Schedule And Halted For The Winter

Repairs on the Inner Basin Waterline, which provides water to City of Flagstaff residents, are ahead of schedule and have been paused for winter following several months of work. The 13-mile-long pipeline was damaged during post-fire flooding that occurred following the 2022 Pipeline Fire. The City of Flagstaff, working with both the Coconino National Forest and the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management, completed work on nine of 46 areas targeted for repair. Repair and restoration of the pipeline itself, which was losing millions of gallons of water every day due to three known breaks, has been completed. Repair work on the project will resume in spring of next year when weather conditions are more favorable. Project work is planned to continue through the summer of 2025. Waterline Road will remain closed to motorized travel and recreationists.
