Prescott Man Guilty of Ten Counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Minor

A Prescott man was found guilty of ten counts of sexual exploitation of a minor last week. On February 23rd, Yavapai County Attorney Dennis McGrane announced a jury decided the verdict after being presented with evidence gathered in an investigation by the Prescott Police Department. The investigation started after the girlfriend of 66-year-old Stanley Wilburn Smith, discovered a large number of sexually explicit images of children on his phone and contacted law enforcement. A forensic expert, pursuant to a search warrant, investigated further and found hundreds of images of children, some believed to be under the age of ten years old. Smith’s sentencing is scheduled for March 25th and he is facing a minimum of 100 years in prison due to the young ages of the children in the images.
