MEMS Placed On Lockdown After A Student Thought He Saw Another Student With A Weapon Tuesday Morning

Mount Elden Middle School was put into lockdown and surrounding schools were put into a brief “shelter in place” this morning after a report from a student saying another student brought a weapon on campus. The school immediately implemented lockdown procedures while an investigation began. Both Puente de Hozho Elementary School and Coconino High School were placed into a brief “shelter in place” for around 15 minutes. The student was identified and no weapon was found. Flagstaff Police say no arrests have been made as a result of the investigation. The lockdown at MEMS and the “shelter in place” at area schools have been lifted and normal school operations have resumed.
