Portland State used a strong running game and a opportunistic passing attack to stymie NAU Saturday, 45-21 in the Skydome. The Vikings had over 300 yards rushing, and over 400 yards of total offense, in the early portion of the third quarter. Junior quarterback Dante Chachere tossed five touchdown passes and rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown in the win. For NAU, freshman quarterback Adam Damante was 14-of-27 for 241 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions, while junior wide receiver Coleman Owen had five catches for 104 yards and a touchdown in the loss. The Vikings finished with 526 yards of total offense, 367 yards rushing, while NAU had 317 yards of total offense and just 65 yards on the ground. NAU has a bye week to regroup before facing the UC-Davis Aggies on homecoming October 28th.
