New NAU head football coach Brian Wright met the media and supporters earlier today on campus. Wright comes to NAU after being the head coach at Division 2 Pittsburg State for four seasons amassing a 33-8 record during his time at the school, which included back-to-back Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association championships. Everywhere Coach Wright has been, his offenses have put up big numbers. He told KAFF News, “we’re up tempo and like to spread the ball out, have a balanced attack and certainly build an offensive scheme that fits the players that we can recruit here to Flagstaff.” He adds, “we form a lot of it around the quarterback and what he can do and his versatility, but we have a lot of fun spreading that football around.” Wright spent time coaching at Youngstown State, Florida Atlantic, Toledo and two seasons at Montana State, before taking over as head coach at Pittsburg State. He said during the press conference, when he was at “that school up north,” as they were leaving Flagstaff he thought how great it would be to recruit here. He was eyeing the job ever since.
