The NAU Lumberjacks slow first half was too much to overcome as they fell to the Portland State Vikings Saturday on the road, 35-27. The Jacks trailed 28-7 at halftime. NAU was outgained 289-112 in total offense at the half. In the second half, the Jacks outgained the Vikings 315-190 and outscored Portland State 20-7, but the rally fell short. R.J. Martinez was 30-43 for 318 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception. Stacy Chukwimezie had his best game since suffering a season-ending knee injury last season. He had five catches for 104 yards and two touchdowns in the loss. NAU will regroup and take on the Cal Poly Mustangs on Family Weekend Saturday. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. in the Skydome.
