The NAU Women’s basketball team just wrapped up a trip to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands as they played in the Paradise Jam against three Power Five conference teams and held their own. Game One Thursday pitted the Lumberjacks against the Arkansas Razorbacks. NAU tried to rally from a 16 point defict after three quarters but fell short, losing to Arkansas 82-73. Olivia Moran came off the bench to lead NAU with 17 points, while sister Myah Moran and Emily Rodabaugh each scored 16 in the loss. Game two Friday had the Lumberjacks facing 25th-ranked Kansas State. NAU led 20-16 at halftime, but then the Wildcats rallied and kept the Lumberjacks in check, winning 93-80. Six Lumberjacks scored in double figures with Nyah Moran and Regan Schenck each with 15 points. Then Saturday’s finale had NAU taking on the Clemson Tigers. NAU trailed 36-30, then a big third quarter by the Tigers put away NAU, 80-62. Freshman Sophie Glancey led the Jacks with 17 points in the loss. The Jacks will return home to take on former Big Sky rival Southern Utah at the Rolle Activity Center next Saturday. Tip time is at 2 p.m.
