The NAU Lumberjacks football team will have a new starting quarterback next season. Sophomore starting quarterback R.J. Martinez announced Tuesday that he has entered the transfer portal and is leaving NAU. Martinez posted on Twitter saying, “first and foremost I want to thank God for the opportunity to play at NAU for the last two years. I want to thank Coach Ball, Coach Pflugrad and the rest of the staff, for supporting me throughout my time at Northern Arizona University. I’m thankful for the relationships I’ve built with my teammates throughout the past couple of years at NAU. With that being said I am entering the transfer portal with two years of eligibility left, as well as a redshirt year.” Martinez played 19 games at NAU, completing 64-percent of his passes for 4,590 yards and 30 touchdowns
