The NAU Lumberjacks have had a history of bad things happen when they go to Greeley, Colorado to play the Northern Colorado Bears in football. Saturday would be no exception. NAU lead Northern Colorado 20-13 with 25-seconds to play when Bears quarterback Dylan McCaffery led Northern Colorado on a 24 play, 96-yard drive and would find Ty Arrington in the end zone on fourth and 15, at the NAU 15, to make it 20-19 NAU. The Bears decided to go for the two-point conversion where McCaffery completed a pass to tight end Max Pierce as the Bears took a 21-20 lead. NAU would get one last try. Two passes from NAU quarterback R.J. Martinez to wide receiver Coleman Owen got the Jacks down to the Bears 36 yard line, but kicker Collin Robbins missed a 54-yard field goal to win the game. Bears win 21-20. Martinez was 24-of-49 for 229 yards passing, with two rushing touchdowns, and Owen had eight catches for 86 yards in the loss. Running back Draycen Hall had a career-high 145 yards on 24 carries. The loss was the fifth straight loss for NAU in Greeley and the Lumberjacks haven’t beaten Northern Colorado there in ten years. The Jacks will finish the season next week in the Skydome against the Weber State Wildcats. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
