NAU Men Beats North Dakota, NAU Women Falls At North Dakota State Saturday

Trent McLaughlin hit a running layup with 22-seconds left as NAU beat North Dakota in the final game of the Big Sky/Summit League Challenge Saturday 74-73 in the Skydome. North Dakota had three chances to win the game in the final :13 seconds, but couldn’t make the shot as NAU went on to win and snapping its three game losing streak. McLaughlin finished with 17 points, but it was Diego Campisano who led the Jacks with a career-high 18 points. Carson Basham had a double double with 13 points and 13 rebounds for NAU. It’s the first time since the 2007-08 season that NAU has started with seven wins against Division One schools. The Jacks now go back on the road this week as they take on Montana State Thursday and Montana Saturday. In Fargo, North Dakota the NAU women’s basketball team trailed North Dakota State by one at halftime, 38-37. The Bison then outscored NAU 38-20 in the third quarter en route to a 99-73 win over the Lumberjacks. Leia Beattie led the Jacks with 12 points, as five players scored in double figures in the loss. The Bison shot 12-of-22 from three point range in the game. NAU returns to Big Sky play for the rest of the season, hosting Montana State Thursday and Montana Saturday in the Skydome.
