Mingus Union High School Put In Lockdown Briefly Tuesday Due To A Report Of A Suspicious Person Near The School

Cottonwood Police were called to Mingus Union High School Tuesday on a report of a suspicious person seen near the school. According to the caller, a male, possible a teenager, was seen walking up a hill toward the school’s ball fields and appeared to be carrying, what looked like to be, a rifle. An officer, who was writing a report across the street from the school responded immediately, along with other units and the school resource officer. The incident happened after school was done for the day, so only a few students were on campus at the time. The school was placed on lockdown as a precaution. Officer checked the school and concluded there was no threat present on campus, and it’s believe there was never a direct threat to the school. No one on campus reported seeing the person in question.
