A 55-year-old man was arrested recently for impersonating a police officer after a dangerous situation Monday on Interstate-17 south of Flagstaff. After a minor road rage incident, the suspect and victim pulled off I-17 and stopped on an exit ramp. The suspect approached the victim’s vehicle with a holstered handgun in his right hand. During the discussion, the suspect said he was a police officer and an undercover detective responding to an emergency call. He told the victim they could go to jail for obstruction. When the victim asked to see his badge, the suspect Shawn E. Osborn returned to his vehicle and drove away. The victim recorded portions of the incident and turned it over to DPS investigators. They identified the suspect as Osborn and arrested him on Tuesday. He was booked into the Coconino County Jail on charges of impersonating a police officer, carrying a weapon in the commission of a crime, disorderly conduct with a firearm, assault and threatening or intimidating. DPS believes there may be additional victims from other incidents. Any potential victims should call the AZDPS Duty Office at (602) 223-2212.
