We’re about ten years since the Yarnell Hill Fire, which took the lives of 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots. This year’s plan was to unveil a monument at the Yavapai County Courthouse, remembering the brave firefighters who lost their lives back on June 30th, 2013. The Granite Mountain Hotshots Memorial Partnership is seeking an additional $111-thousand dollars in funding to help get the monument installed on the courthouse plaza. The additional money is due to the rising costs of shipping materials and other items needed to complete the memorial. The Partnership enlisted help from an actor of the popular show “Yellowstone,” to help. Actor Forrie Smith, who plays cowboy Lloyd Pierce on the show, shot a video talking about the project, the need and the firefighters who died fighting the fire. To donate you can send a check to 239 South Cortez Street, Prescott, Arizona 86303, or you can log onto the memorial’s website at gmhsmemorial.com.
