Fossil Creek Has Reopened For Visitors

Fossil Creek reopened for visitors Monday after being closed for a significant amount of time.  Coconino National Forest officials announced on Twitter Tuesday morning they are excited to welcome back the public after an extended closure. During the closure, major repairs were made to the road and facilities following the aftermath of the Backbone Fire. While the road has been improved, it’s still recommended that visitors take 4×4 high-clearance vehicles. Permit season will run from June 26th to October 1st, with no camping or fires allowed. Coconino National Forest services says people should pack up their floaties, picnics and trash bags but make sure to check beforehand for restricted items like glass. Permits for the following month are made available at the first of the month. For more information, or to reserve a permit, visit the Coconino National Forest website.
