Flagstaff Mayor Paul Deasy will rescind the city’s face covering proclamation Wednesday. Deasy made the announcement during the City Council work session Tuesday. Even though the face covering proclamation is coming to an end, businesses can still require masks and social distancing while customers are on private property. Deasy says “vaccinations are widely available across Arizona and our COVID-19 case numbers have had a steady decline. Rescinding this proclamation is an important next step.” The City Council also provided direction to lift the capacity limits on outdoor and city-owned sports fields, also effective starting Wednesday. Face coverings are still required inside city buildings under Phase Three of the city’s COVID-19 re-entry Plan. The City Council will hold a discussion on additional COVID-19 restrictions at the June 1st meeting.
