Flagstaff Resident Is Among The First Corps Volunteers To Return Overseas Since The Beginning Of The Pandemic

Flagstaff resident Sarah Monassa will be among the first group of Peace Corps volunteers to return overseas since the pandemic. Monassa graduated from NAU in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies. She will be among the first to restart global operations after all active Peace Corps volunteers, who were working internationally, were evacuated in March 2020. Monassa will be traveling to West Africa to serve in Benin’s health sector. On why she joined the Peace Corps, Monassa said, “I was motivated to join Peace Corps because I would like to learn more about the world, learn a new language, and develop new skills.”
