Flagstaff First Responders Rescued A Female Hiker During Heavy Rain At Lake Mary Tuesday

A female hiker had to be rescued from Lake Mary Tuesday afternoon after suffering a leg injury. Crews from the Flagstaff Fire Department and Coconino County Search and Rescue, responded to the lake on a call from a women who was hiking on the south side of the lake when she suffered a leg injury that prevented her from hiking back. Fire fighters and EMT’s from Guardian Medical Transportation hiked in heavy rain to reach the patient. Search and Rescue deployed its Zodiac boat to safely transport her across the lake without further incident. Fire officials remind the public that Monsoon season in Flagstaff is unpredictable. It can be a nice day, then the weather can change in an instant. If you are in the outdoors, make sure you carry proper gear, including rain gear and first aid supplies. Also familiarize yourself with the trail and weather forecasts before going on hikes.
