The Flagstaff Fire Department’s Wildland Fire crew will conduct a prescribed burn Wednesday just west of Flagstaff. Officials say the burn will take place on Observatory Mesa and will burn about 168 acres. Smoke from the prescribed burn is expected to drift in a north to northeast direction during the day over the Coconino Estates neighborhood and the area north of the hospital. At night, smoke is expected to settle in and around Thorpe Park. No closures of roads or FUTS trails are anticipated, however recreators should plan to avoid the burn area.
