Flagstaff City Council Preliminary Approves Ordinance Pertaining To Short Term Rentals

The Flagstaff City Council gave preliminary approval Tuesday to an ordinance that would license short-term rentals within the city limits. The program would carry with is an annual license fee of $175 and it regulates residential units rented for less than 30-days. The license application will be able to be done online. With the fee, residents would have to complete a neighbor notification that provides all those neighboring the property emergency contact information. Those who don’t get licensed could face fines of a-thousand dollars a month. Council will conduct a second read of the ordinance at their last meeting before summer break on Monday, July 3rd. If approved, the program would be implemented by November
