Flagstaff City Council Passes Ordinance Regarding Phase One Of Construction Of A New Hospital North Of Fort Tuthill

The Flagstaff City Council voted 6-1 to approve an ordinance regarding Phase One of construction of the new Northern Arizona Health Care Health Village, along with the rezone of the land, on first reading Tuesday night. After another three hours of comments and discussion, questions still remained. Vice Mayor Austin Aslan was the lone “no” vote and wanted to postpone implementing the ordinance for six months to settle some of those questions. He put forth a measure to postpone and received no one’s support. The new campus is planned to include a new 700-thousand square-foot hospital, ambulatory services and a future Health and Wellness Village. The complex would be located on nearly 173 acres just north of Fort Tuthill County Park and just to the west of Interstate-17. Council has to pass the ordinance on the final vote in two weeks to make everything official.
