Cottonwood Police seized over 12 pounds of fentanyl pills and cash Tuesday. Officers were conducting a narcotic interdiction operation on State Route 260 between Cottonwood and Camp Verde when they initiated a traffic stop. During the stop, the male driver and female passenger displayed numerous indicators of nervousness and deceptions. A K-9 officer arrived on the scene the and deployed his dog to do a sniff of the vehicle. The K-9 showed a positive alert for narcotics on, or in, the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed around 12.4 pounds of fentanyl pills, which is around 56-thousand pills, along with three-thousand dollars in cash. The driver and passenger were arrested and booked into the Yavapai County Jail on narcotics trafficking charges.
