Cottonwood Police Arrest Three After A Dispute Between Two Groups Escalated At A Gas Station Early Sunday

Cottonwood Police were called to a gas station early Sunday morning after a dispute between two groups escalated. Police arrived at the Speedway gas station at 999 South Main Street in Cottonwood after both groups had left the area. Officers were told that during the confrontation at the gas station, a member of one of the groups brandished a loaded handgun, pointing it at two people from the second group. In response, someone in the second group approached them with an axe. The first group left the scene, but the situation intensified when, while stopped at a red light at Main and State Route 260, a member of the first group fired gunshots at the second group. Fortunately no one was injured as the gunshots missed members of the group and several uninvolved bystanders. After an investigation, three people were identified as being associated with the incident. They were arrested and booked into the Yavapai County Jail on multiple felony charges. The incident remains under investigation.
