Cottonwood police arrested a man involved with an aggravated assault case Saturday. Officials say at about 6:47 p.m., the Cottonwood Police Department received a report about a man acting erratically while carrying an infant near Willard and North Main. The man was intoxicated, holding a three-month-old child from around the torso and screaming for someone who was not present. After making contact, officers were able to release the infant from the suspect’s grip and hand the child over to its mother. The suspect was taken into custody and charged with child abuse, aggravated assault, endangerment and disorderly conduct. On Monday, officers conducted a welfare check and the Arizona Department of Child Safety made appropriate arrangements on the infant without further incident.
