Both Mingus and Coconino tried to establish the running game early, but it was the Panthers who pulled away as Coconino keeps its playoff hopes alive with a 38-9 win over the Marauders Friday in Cottonwood. Senior running back Bridger French went over the 1,000 yard mark for the season in the second quarter, finishing with 180 yards on 20 carries and three touchdowns. It’s the sixth straight season that Coconino has had a running back rush for 1,000-yards in a season. The Panthers finished with 374 yards of total offense, 249 yards on the ground in the win. The Panthers held Mingus to 148 yards of total offense. Junior quarterback Colton Buckingham had 135 yards and a touchdown passing, 57 yards going to wide receiver Cole Hagaman in the win. The Panthers have senior night against the Prescott Badgers this Friday night. Kickoff at Cromer Stadium is at 7 p.m.
