Coconino Soars Past Payson On Homecoming To Improve To 2-0

The Coconino Panthers had the week off and didn’t skip a beat as they beat the Payson Longhorns 42-3 Friday night for Homecoming at Cromer Stadium. The Panthers were led by senior Bridger French, who started the game at quarterback then switched to running back after junior Colton Buckingham came into the game to make his season debut. But it was French who led the way with 129 yards rushing and four touchdowns on nine carries. Buckingham was 11-of-16 for 134 yards and two touchdowns. Coconino outgained Payson 333-to-42. Coconino has held their first two opponents to negative rushing yards. The Panthers head on the road for the first time this season as they take on the 3-0 Arcadia Titans Friday. We will have the game on KAFF Sports Network on nfhsnetwork.com starting with the pregame show at 6:30 p.m.
