Coconino Rebounds With A Big 71-14 Win Over Apache Junction Friday Night

From the opening kickoff, the Coconino Panthers had control of the game as they beat the Apache Junction Prospectors 71-14 at Cromer Stadium Friday night in Flagstaff. Senior running back Bridger French took the opening kickoff 88 yards, but was tackled at the five yard line, only to score on the next play to go up 7-0 and the Panthers never looked back. French had 145 yards on ten carries and scored a pair of touchdowns rushing and had a 46 yard touchdown catch on the night. French had 286 all-purpose yards on the night. Junior quarterback Colten Buckingham had a great night as he was 10-of-13 for 185 yards and five touchdowns in the win. Coconino had 428 yards of total offense, while Apache Junction had 229 yards on the offensive side of the ball. Coconino will travel to Cottonwood next Friday night to take on the Mingus Marauders as Grand Canyon Region play resumes.
