Today Is The 10th Anniversary Of The Death Of 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots As They Battle The Yarnell Hill Fire

Today is the 10th anniversary of the deaths of 19 heroes as they battled the Yarnell Hill Fire near Prescott.  In honor of those who died fighting the Yarnell Hill Fire on June 30th, 2013, the City of Prescott is hosting a public commemoration Friday at 3 p.m. in Courthouse Square. Former hotshot Brendan McDonough will deliver the hotshot prayer, followed by remarks from Ryder Ashcraft, who lost his father to the wildfire. The ceremony will end with a ringing of the courthouse bells and a flyover from Luke Air Force Base. At 4:42 p.m., the Yavapai County Courthouse bell will ring 19 times to represent the lives lost ten years ago. The commemoration will be on Goodwin Street between Montezuma and Cortez. More details about the event can be found on the City of Prescott website.
