The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents and visitors that the county’s Winter Parking Ordinance is currently in effect. The ordinance means vehicles, trailers and storage containers left parked on county highways and roads during snow season can become hazardous to snow removal operations and emergency vehicle access. Violation of the ordinance is a civil traffic offense that carries at minimum a $200 fine in addition to any other penalties that may be imposed. Vehicles parked in violation of this Ordinance are also subject to tow-away at the owner’s expense. The ordinance is in effect annually from November 1st through April 1st.
