Three people were injured in a hot air balloon accident in Williams Saturday. The incident happened at around 11:48 a.m. behind the Ramada Inn Hotel, during a craft fair at the Rodeo Steakhouse. The balloon was being filled to offer tethered balloon rides as part of the event, when a 40-50 mile-per-hour gust of wind caught the balloon, making it briefly airborne and then hard landed, hitting a truck and just narrowly missing a vendor. No one was in the balloon at the time of the accident. All three injured were taken to Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. An eight-year-old girl suffered a broken thumb and rope burns and a 15-year-old boy suffered back and neck injuries. An adult female suffered abrasions. Among the items and vehicle damaged in the incident, a corner of a nearby building on East Rodeo Road was also damaged, which included electrical components.
