ADOT Is Fully Closing, And Overnight Restricting State Route 89A This Week

ADOT is conducting full daytime closures and overnight restrictions on State Route 89A in Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon through Saturday morning. ADOT is closing 89A from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. between the Owenby Way roundabout and the Midgley Bridge picnic area this week. Sedona drivers traveling north to Flagstaff will have to use State Route 179 to Interstate-17. Southbound drivers from Flagstaff to Sedona will have to use I-17 to State Route 179. Overnight restrictions will be in two phases. From 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., the closures will be lifted to clear traffic about every 30 minutes starting at the top of the hour. Then from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. the closure will be lifted to clear traffic once an hour at the top of the hour. Restrictions are needed for rockfall mitigation work that’s continuing on State Route 89A. For more information, log onto azdot.gov/SR89A.
