A Squirrel Causes A Brief Power Outage To An Area Of Flagstaff Wednesday, Which Contained Several Schools

A squirrel caused a brief power outage in the north Fourth Street area of Flagstaff Wednesday. APS officials say the animal got into the company’s equipment as an employee was already working on the line in the area. Because of that, safety measures were directed to the section where the employee was working, taking the safety backup away from the area. Therefore, the incident involving the squirrel caused a loss of power to several schools and nearly 23-hundred customers total. The outage area was from Appalachian Road to Industrial Drive and Cedar Avenue to Kaspar Avenue. With crews in the area, it took APS around 50 minutes to restore power. APS says safety is their primary concern and the worker was never in any danger. As for the squirrel, it was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
