A Pine Lake Woman Died From Her Injuries Last Week After She Was Attacked By An Elk In Her Backyard

The elk pictured is not the same animal mentioned in the story.

A woman was critically injured and later died after she was attacked by an elk in Pine Lake near Kingman.  The woman’s husband found her in their backyard and immediately called for help.  She was taken to an area hospital and then transferred to a hospital in Las Vegas, where she died on Friday.  Her death has been ruled accidental.  Arizona Game and Fish officials say her injuries are consistent with being trampled by an elk.  They also found a bucket of spilled corn and several elk tracks in the backyard.  There were no witnesses to the attack.  Wildlife officials say there have been five reported elk attacks in the past five years in the state, but this was the first recorded fatality by an elk in Arizona history.
