A Humboldt Unified School District School Is Closed Until Tuesday Because Of An Illness

The Humboldt Unified School District has closed Lake Valley Elementary School until Tuesday due to an illness going through the school. It’s so bad that there isn’t enough substitute teachers available to cover classes. Humboldt Superintendent John Pothast wrote in a letter to parents, that 22 of the 32 staff members at the school are out sick. On top of the closure, Pothast says in-person participation in school, child care, sports, extracurricular activities and before and after school programs are canceled through Monday. The district is advising parents of children at the school to keep kids home if they are experiencing flu-like symptoms like fever, body aches, shortness of breath, cough, congestion, loss of smell or taste and other symptoms.
